Still Going Strong!
The Protivin American Legion march to
the church to remember those who gave
all as many turn out to honor those that
served.  It is always a special time in

The Oak Ridge Boys Sing The National
Anthem in Howard County
during the dedication of the "Howard
County Freedom Rock" in Cresco at the
intersection of Highway 9 and Protivin
Road on June 23rd.  A huge crowd
gathered for the event and The Oak
Bridge Boys in the area for the Howard
County Fair were gracious enough to
offer their services for the dedication.

"Shoulder High By The 4th of July"

Despite the wet conditions and not able
to get the corn in until toward the end of
May,
Baldy's Corn was still
"Shoulder High by The 4th of July".
This photo was taken on 6/29/2018.
Good Ground, Good Seed, and
Great Farming the Key to Success!
It's been over 50 years since
Rudolphinum High School
in Protivin closed it doors.  We have a special feature on its final class featuring an
interview with Protivin Resident
John Balik who reflects back to 1968, some his
classmates, and the changes in the town over the past 50 years.

This is a real gem:  includes Merlyn Phillips of Spillville, as a baby with his parents,
grandparents and 2 sets of Great Grand Parents..
 Merlyn was born June
30, 1935
so this photo is probably from July maybe August.
